Famous Explorers of the American West
As Lewis and Clark led their Corps of Discovery to the Pacific Ocean, Lieutenant Zebulon Pike led an expedition to find the source of the Mississippi River. In 1806-07, Pike mapped the American Southwest and studied the Native Americans in the region.
