The Yom Kippur War
War and Conflict in the Middle East
In 1973, Israeli leadership let its guard down, and on Yom Kippur afternoon Israel was attacked by Egypt and Syria. Initially suffering losses, Israel eventually regrouped and fought back. Here, the battle and the aftermath, which led to a final peace between Israel and Egypt, are examined. The post war oil embargoes that nearly crippled the West are also discussed.
