La Salle
La Salle traveled to New France from Rouen in 1666. La Salle led an expedition in 1669 to the Lake Ontario region. Backed by Count de Frontenac, La Salle descended the Mississippi River to the Gulf of Mexico in 1682, claimed all lands touched by the Mississippi for King Louis XIV, and called the region Louisiana.

Series Review--"This series' titles will provide attractive overview resources for that ubiquitous explorer report. the set has a unified old manuscript appearance with pages printed with full bleeds. Each of the handsome two-page layouts serves as a chapter with one page devoted to illustrations: maps, photos, or drawings from stock archival sources. A summarizing timeline, and index are included."
