Opponents in American History
People have always had, and always will have, differing
opinions and perspectives. Over the history of the United States, members of
many groups have found themselves at odds over any number of issues. Sometimes
they resolved these issues peacefully?and sometimes they didn't. But one thing
is for sure: the United States has changed because of them. In this set, readers
will learn about some of these adversarial relationships in American history and
why members of the different sides thought the way they did?and how we regard
some of these issues today, and why. They'll also get the chance to read what
these people thought in their own words and how they tried to convince others
they were in the right.
