Hernando de Soto
Hernando de Soto defied his parents' wishes that he become a lawyer and instead conquered the Incas at Cajamorca and fought for (and lost) what is now Florida. Students will be introduced to the difficult topics of land ownership and civil rights of both native peoples and newcomers.
